We teach children, which means we hold information about children. This page explains exactly what we hold, why, how long for, and what you can ask us to do with it.
The Meta-Maths Method is operated by Meta-Maths Method LLC, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
This policy is written to be read rather than skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it properly.
Alf Collett, our founder, is responsible for data protection. Any question about your family's information comes to him directly.
Through the enquiry form on this website we collect your name, your email address, your phone or WhatsApp number, your child's first name, your child's school year, what brings you to us, and anything else you choose to tell us.
We ask for your child's first name and school year so that we can have a useful conversation with you. We do not ask for their surname, date of birth or school at this stage, and you should not send them.
Once a child is enrolled we also hold:
Payments are taken through Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen, handled or stored by us. We keep a record that a payment was made, for what, and when.
We collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and how you arrived. This is used to understand whether the website is working, not to identify you.
Live lessons are recorded through Zoom. This matters enough to have its own section.
We use it to reply to your enquiry and arrange a call, run the assessment and place your child on the right pathway, teach the lessons and plan what comes next, write your weekly feedback email, arrange the three parent calls across the block, take payment and keep proper business records, and tell you when the next block is starting.
We use it because you have asked us to teach your child and we cannot do that without it, because we have a contract with you, and because we are required to keep certain business records.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your child's data to train any product, and we do not use it in our marketing.
If we ever want to quote you in a testimonial we will ask you first, in writing, and tell you exactly where it will appear. We only ever publish a parent's words attributed to a school year. Never a child's name, and never a child's photograph or video.
We use a small number of established services to run the business. Each one only receives what it needs.
| Service | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Google Workspace | Email, documents and lesson records |
| Zoom | Live lessons and lesson recordings |
| ScaleTutor | This website, enquiry forms, booking and our customer records |
| Stripe | Payments. Stripe holds your card details, we never do |
We also work with tutors, all of whom hold a valid UK teaching qualification. Tutors see only the children they teach, and are required to keep everything about those children confidential.
We may be required to disclose information where the law compels us to, or where there is a genuine safeguarding concern about a child's welfare. Child safety comes before confidentiality, and always will.
This is the part that matters most, so we will be direct about it. Almost every child we teach is under 13. We hold information about them because we cannot teach them otherwise.
If you believe we hold information about a child that we should not, contact us and we will look into it straight away.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not lead to enrolment | 12 months, then deleted |
| Lesson recordings | 10 days, then deleted |
| Automated lesson summaries | Used to write your weekly email, then discarded |
| Assessment results and progress records | While enrolled, then up to 24 months |
| Parental agreements | 24 months after the final block |
| Financial records | As long as UAE law requires |
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you and your child, correct anything that is wrong, delete it where we are not required to keep it, send you a copy in a portable format, or stop emailing you about anything other than your child's active lessons.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
We use established providers with their own security standards, restrict access to people who need it, and require tutors to treat everything about a child as confidential.
No system is perfect and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects your family's information, we will tell you rather than hoping you do not notice.
This website uses cookies to work properly and to help us understand how people use it. You can refuse non-essential cookies without losing access to anything that matters, and most browsers also let you block cookies entirely. We do not run advertising cookies on this website.
We link to a small number of external pages, including our pathway guides, our lesson walkthrough video on Vimeo, and our booking pages. Once you are on somebody else's website their privacy policy applies, not ours.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will email families who are currently enrolled, rather than leaving you to spot it.
